An expression of the form $a_{0} x^{n} + a_{1} x^{n - 1} + a_{2} x^{n - 2} + . . . + a_{n}$ where $a_{0}, a_{1}, a_{2}, . . ., a_{n}$ are real numbers and $n$ is a whole number, is called a polynomial.
Standard form: If the terms of a polynomial are written in ascending or descending powers of variable.
Given polynomial $15 - x^{6} - x^{3} + \frac{1}{8} x^{2} - 2 x$ can be written in standard form as $- x^{6} - x^{3} + \frac{1}{8} x^{2} - 2 x + 15$ .
Hence, the standard form is $- x^{6} - x^{3} + \frac{1}{8} x^{2} - 2 x + 15$ .
