Question

Write the following steps in a sequential order to find the current and voltage in the secondary coil. The ratio of the number of turns of a primary to a secondary coil, current through the primary coil and input power are given.
(a) Let the given data be taken as N1N2 (turn-ratio), i1, (input current) and P (input power).

(b) Substitute the given values of N1N2 and i1, in the above formula and get the value of i2.

(c) Write the relation between turn-ratio and the currents as N1N2=i2i1, where i2 is the current in the secondary coil.

(d) Write the relation between input power and output power in terms of V1,i1,V2,i2 i.e. V1i1=V2i2=P, where V1 and V2 are the voltage in the primary and secondary coils respectively.

(e) Substitute the values of i2 and P in the above relation to get the value of V2.

Solution

The correct option is C acbde
Let the given data be taken as N1N2 (turn-ratio), i1, (input current) and P (input power) (a).

Write the relation between turn-ratio and the currents as N1N1=i2i1, where i2 is the current in the secondary coil (c).

Substitute the given values of N1N2 and i2, in the above formula and get the value of i2 (b).

Write the relation between input power and output power in terms of V1,i1,V2,i2 i.e. V1i1=V2i2=P, where V1 and V2 are the voltages in the primary and secondary coils respectively (d).

Substitute the values of i2 and P in the above relation to get the value of V2 (e).
