Solution

Step 1. Forming greatest 5-digit number:

While forming a greatest number using given digits, arrange the digits in descending order from extreme left.

Repeating the greatest digit would give us greatest number when arranged in descending order.

Now, 8>6>3>2.

So, 88632 is the required number.

Step 2. Forming smallest 5-digit number:

While forming a smallest number using given digits, arrange the digits in ascending order from extreme left.

Repeating the smallest digit would give us smallest number when arranged in ascending order.

Now, 2<3<6<8.

So, 22368 is the required number.

Thus, 88632 and 22368 are the greatest and smallest 5-digit numbers using 6,3,8,2 by using any one digit twice.
