Solution

Solution:-
  • (i)CH3CH3|CHCl|CHCH3
The IUPAC name of the above compound is 2-chloro-3-methylbutane.
Here 2-chloro is for the chloride group (Cl) attached at position C2 while 3-methyl is for the methyl group (CH3) attached at the position C3 and butane is for the long chain of 4 carbon atoms.
Hence the IUPAC name of the above compound is 2-chloro-3-methylbutane.
  • (ii)CH3CH2CH3|C|CH3I|CH2
The IUPAC name of the above compound is 1-iodo-2,2-dimethyl butane.
Here 1-iodo is for the iodide group (I) attached at position C1 while 2,2-dimethyl is for the 2 methyl groups (CH3) attached at the same position C3 and butane is for the long chain of 4 carbon atoms.
Hence the IUPAC name of the above compound is 1-iodo-2,2-dimethyl butane.
  • (iii)CH3CH3|CHBr|CHCH3
The IUPAC name of the above compound is 2-bromo-3-methylbutane.
Here 2-bromo is for the bromide group (Br) attached at position C2 while 3-methyl is for the methyl group (CH3) attached at the position C3 and butane is for the long chain of 4 carbons.
Hence the IUPAC name of the above compound is 2-bromo-3-methylbutane.
  • (iv)CH3Cl|C|C2H5CH2CH3
The IUPAC name of the above compound is 3-chloro-3-methylpentane.
Here 3-chloro is for the chloride group (Cl) attached at position C3 while 3-methyl is for the methyl group (CH3) attached at the position C3 and pentane is for the long chain of 5 carbon atoms.
Hence the IUPAC name of the above compound is 3-chloro-3-methyl pentane.
  • (v)CH3CH=CHBr|C|CH3CH3
The IUPAC name of the above compound is 4-bromo-4-methylpent-2-ene.
Here 4-bromo is for the bromide group (Br) attached at position C4 while 4-methyl is for the methyl group (CH3) attached at the position C4 and pent-2-ene is for the long chain of 5 carbon atoms havinf double bond at position C2.
Hence the IUPAC name of the above compound is 4-bromo-4-methylpent-2-ene.
