Write the observation and result of the practical 'heating of lead nitrate and emission of nitrogen dioxide'.

When lead nitrate is heated , it will get decompose into lead oxide , nitrogen dioxide gas and oxygen gas. Nitrogen dioxide gas is a brown gas. Lead oxide is brown coloured residue that is left. Nitrogen dioxide gas is a pungent smelling gas. The reaction will be:
2Pb(NO3)2 Heat 2PbO + 4NO2 +O2
The result of the practical is that it is a decomposition reaction.
