Question

Write the overall summary chemical equation of photosynthesis.

Open in App
Solution

6CO2 + 12H2O -----> C6H12O6 + 6O2+ 6H2O
  • For each molecule of glucose (C6H12O6) produced during photosynthesis, six molecules of carbon dioxide (CO2) and twelve molecules of water (H2O) are required.
  • The molecules of water get oxidized and the electrons so released are then utilised for the reduction of carbon dioxide to form glucose.
