Example: Germ layers in human embryo
Characteristics of germ layers :
1. Two layers are formed first: Inner endoderm and outer ectoderm, during gastrulation.
2. Later on, another middle layer called mesoderm is formed.
3. The ectoderm forms the hair, skin, nails, mammary glands, etc.
4. The endoderm forms lining of digestive tract, lungs, thyroid, etc.
5. The mesoderm forms the skeletal muscle, bones, urogenital tract, connective tissue, heart, etc.
6. Diploblastic animals have only 2 germ layers.
7. Triploblastic animals have 3 germ layers.
