Open in App
Solution

Answer:

Introduction

  1. There are many things we can discover around us, ranging from mountains and seas to plants and animals.
  2. The world we walk in is made up of a variety of things.
  3. These ‘things’ can be divided into two types of things: living and non-living.

Living things

  1. Living things exist and are alive and are composed of microscopic structures known as cells. They develop and show locomotion or movement.
  2. They undergo metabolism, including anabolic reactions and catabolic reactions. Via the act of reproduction living beings can create a new life that is of their kind.
  3. Living things have a specific period of life and are not immortal.

Features of Living Things

  1. Living things exhibit locomotory movement.
  2. Living things respire.
  3. Living things are touch-sensitive and can identify changes in their surroundings.
  4. Living things grow and develop through various stages of development.
  5. Via the mechanism of reproduction, living beings can create offspring of their kind.
  6. To survive via the nutrition and digestive process, which includes engulfing and digesting the food, they acquire and satisfy their nutritional requirements.
  7. Few living organisms are also autotrophic, meaning that they can absorb the energy of the sun to generate their food.
  8. Via the excretion process, the digested food is eliminated from the body.

List of 10 living things

  1. Human beings
  2. Plants
  3. Insects
  4. Mammals
  5. Mosses
  6. Animals
  7. Reptiles
  8. Bacteria
  9. Lichens
  10. Birds

Non-living things

  1. Non-living things are not alive. They have no cells and do not expand or demonstrate locomotion or movement.
  2. With anabolic and catabolic reactions, they do not undergo metabolism.
  3. They’re not reproducing.

Features of non-living things

  1. Non-living things are lifeless.
  2. No metabolic activities.
  3. They do not have their own definite and unique size.
  4. By accretion, non-living things ‘develop’. It happens by the external addition of materials.
  5. Non-living things never die because they do not have cells with a definite lifespan.
  6. In non-living things, essential life cycles are absent, like reproduction, nutrition, excretion, etc.

List of ten non-living things

  1. Pen
  2. Chair
  3. Bedsheets
  4. Paper
  5. Bed
  6. Book
  7. Clothes
  8. Bag
  9. Curtains
  10. Table
