Solution
Answer:
Transport in Plants.
Transportation is the process in plants where in the substances absorbed or synthesised are transported from one part of the plant to the other.
It is carried out by conducting system- xylem and phloem.
The substances are transported to the overall parts of the plant by two methods- passive transport and active transport.
A) Passive transport-
Passive transport is the type of movement which does not require energy for movement of substances across cell membrane.
It includes osmosis and diffusion process.
Osmosis-
Movement of water molecules from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane is called osmosis.
Diffusion-
Diffusion is a process of movement of water and minerals from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration.
This process helps in the movement of solids, liquids and gases.
B) Active transport-
Movement of minerals or ions or molecules from the region of lower concentration to the region of higher concentration is called active transport.
It utilises energy for the transportation of minerals.
