Write the type of joint which is used for each of the following movements:
(1) Rotation of an arm.
(2) A girl moves her head in right and left direction.
(3) A person lifts weights to build up his biceps.
1.Ball and socket 2. Pivot joint 3. Hinge joint
1. Rotation of an arm involves the shoulder joint. i.e. ball and socket joint. In ball and socket joint, one bone is hooked into hollow space of another bone. This type of joint helps in rotatory movement.
2. Moving the head in right and left direction involves the pivot joint that connects our head to the neck. In this type of joint, one bone has trapped into the other in such a way that full rotation is not possible. Pivotal joints aid in side-way and back-forth movement like in neck.
3. Weightlifting involves elbow joint. i.e. hinge joint. Hinge joints are joints like door hinge where only back and forth movement is possible. These are found in fingers and toes, knees, elbow, etc.
