Inert gases are group 18: $He,Ne,Ar,Kr,Xe$

1. $He$ being non-inflammable and light in weight, is used in balloons for meteorological observations.

2. Liquified $He$ gas has boiling point of 4.2 K so is used as cryogenic agent for low temperature experiments and in NMR (MRI) instrument to sustain the power of superconducting magnets which is essential for experiments.

3. Due to low solubility of $He$ in blood it is mixed with oxygen as a dilutent for diving apparatus.

4. Neon finds its application in fluorescent bulbs and discharge tubes for display screens.

5. $Ne$ filled bulbs are used in green house and botanical gardens.

6. $Ar$ is used to create inert atmosphere at high temperature for various metallurgical process such as welding and is filled in electric bulbs.

7. $Xe$ lamps are high energy light source covering UV-Visible range from 190-1100 nm and therefore find its application in spectrometers.
