Haider Ali, born in 1727 in Ajmer, Rajasthan, was the father of famous Tipu Sultan known as “Tiger of Mysore”. After the king of Mysore made him the commander in chief to handle the deteriorating conditions in the state, he organised the army, trained the soldiers on European model, established peace in state, and directed the finances, excelling in army ranks and ultimately rising to the position of the ruler of the state.
