Solution

Procedures for processing fibres into wool:

Step 1:

  1. The sheep's fleece along with a thin layer of skin are taken from its body.
  2. Shearing is the term for this procedure.
  3. Hair is shaved using machines similar to those used by barbers.
  4. Hair is usually removed during warmer temperatures.
  5. Sheep can survive without their protective layer of hair because of this.
  6. Woollen fibres are produced by the hair.
  7. Woollen yarn is made by processing woollen fibres.

Step 2:

  1. To eliminate oil, dust, and debris, the sheared skin with hair is thoroughly washed in tanks.
  2. This is referred to as scouring.
  3. Nowadays, machines are used for scouring.

Step 3:

  1. Sorting is completed after scouring.
  2. The hairy skin is delivered to a factory where it is separated or sorted into different textures.

Step 4:

  1. Burrs are little fluffy fibres that are plucked out of the hair.
  2. These are the same burrs that show up on your knitwear from time to time.
  3. The fibres are scrubbed and dried one more.
  4. This is the wool that is ready to be spun into yarn.

Step 5:

Because the natural fleece of sheep and goats is black, brown, or white, the fibres can be dyed in a variety of colours.

Step 6:

  1. The fibres are straightened, combed, and rolled into yarn.
  2. The longer fibres are spun and woven into woollen material, while the shorter fibres are used to make sweaters.
