Solution
The correct option is A 60cm & 40cm The resistance of a wire of lengthl is R=ρ(lA). Suppose the two piece of wire has lengths and resistances l1,l2 and R1,R2 respectively.
So according to the question: l1+l2=100 ...................................................................(1)
and R1R2R1+R2=24
Substituting R=ρll, we get,
(ρA)l1(ρA)l2(ρA)l1+(ρA)l2=24 But ρA=1 l1l2l1+l2=24...........................(2)
Solving equation (1) and (2), we will get l1=60 cm,l2=40 cm
