Solution

Step 1: Find the amount remaining

The change in the value of the gift card after buying 2 packs of pencils, 5 notebooks, 6 folders, 1 pack of pens, 3 packs of paper, 1 pack of highlighters, and 2 binders.

=50[2(1.98)+5(2.95)+6(0.75)+1(1.57)+3(0.89)+1(3.45)+2(3.55)]=50-[3.96+14.75+4.5+1.57+2.67+3.45+7.1]=50-38=12

Hence, the amount remaining on the gift card =$12

Step 2: Find the percentage of the value remains on gift card

The percentage of the value that remains on gift card =(100×12)50%=24%

Hence, the change in the value of the gift card after buying school supplies =12$

The percentage of the value that remains on gift card =24%
