  • pH=-log[H+]

  • A solution's pH ranges from 0to14.
  • 25°C is the temperature at which the pH range works.
  • Acidic solutions have a pH value ranging from 0to7 on the pH scale.
  • Basic solutions have pH values ranging from 7to14 on the pH scale.
  • Neutral solutions are those that have a pH value of 7 on the pH scale.

Solution A :

  • pH=6
  • To determine the concentration of H+ ions, apply the rule that the pH of any solution is inversely proportional to its H+ concentration. So H+ ions in Solution A have more concentration.
  • Since the pH of Solution A is less than 7, so it is acidic.

Solution B :

  • pH=8
  • To determine the concentration of H+ ions, apply the rule that the pH of any solution is inversely proportional to its H+ concentration. So H+ ions in Solution B have less concentration.
  • Since the pH of Solution B is more than 7, so it is basic.
