Question

Ampere's circuital law is analogous to which law in electrostatics?

Open in App
Solution

Ampere's circuital law:

  1. It states that “the line integral of the magnetic field surrounding closed-loop equals to μ0 times the algebraic sum of currents passing through the loop.”
  2. It is given by the formula B.dl=μ0I.

Gauss law:

  1. It states that "the net flux of an electric field in a closed surface is directly proportional to the enclosed electric charge."
  2. It is given by the formula E.dA=Qε0.

Similarity between Ampere's circuital law and Gauss law:

Both the laws are similar as they determine the strength of the respective fields by using the flow of flux through the lines of these fields.

Hence, Ampere's circuital law is analogous to Gauss's law.
