Solution

Compost:

  1. It refers to a mixture of substances, which is used to fertilize and improve the quality of the soil.
  2. It is generally prepared by recycling organic substances and decomposing plant and food waste.
  3. The resulting mixture is rich in plant nutrients and essential organisms like fungal mycelium and worms.
  4. Compost does not harm the soil by adding harmful chemicals to it.

Chemical fertilizers :

  1. These are the artificial fertilizers produced in the industries.
  2. Some examples of chemical fertilizers are potassium sulfate, ammonium sulfate, etc.
  3. It is better to use compost in place of chemical fertilizers.
  4. This is because compost is prepared from the wastes of animals and plants, thus, they get decomposed feasibly.
  5. On the other hand, excessive utilization of chemical fertilizers results in water and soil pollution.
