  3. Microbes form approximately 60 percent of the living matter on the Earth.
  4. Some of the microbes are bacteria, fungi, protists, etc.
  5. Microbes can be both beneficial and harmful depending upon their mode of action.
  6. Some of the microbes like E.coli bacteria play an essential part in the digestion process in humans.
  7. Some of the microbes like protozoa act as parasites on human beings.
  8. Some of the essential microbes are used in laboratories for performing the desired functions.
  9. However, the microbes will not function similarly in landfill sites as they work in a laboratory.
  10. Suitable conditions like optimum temperature, moisture, etc. are required by the microbes to grow.
  11. In a laboratory, one can provides this environment artificially to the microbes for their growth and development.
  12. However, the landfill sites may or may not possess a suitable atmosphere to grow.
