Does chalk powder dissolves in water if not why?

Calcium carbonate CaCO3 is the main component in chalk. In water the solubility of calcium carbonate is extremely low therefore an extremely minute amount of CaCO3 is able to dissolve in a normal amount of water. Chalk has the characteristics of low solubility in water to make the chalk to dissolve in water more time is needed.
