Question

Find three consecutive odd numbers whose sum is 147.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Calculate one of the numbers

Let us assume the three consecutive even numbers as x,x+2 and x+4.

It is given that the sum of these three numbers is 147.

x+x+2+x+4=147

3x+6=147

3x=147-6

x=1413

x=47

Step 2: Calculate the other two numbers

Therefore,

x+2=47+2=49

x+4=47+4=51

Hence, the three consecutive odd numbers are 47,49 and 51.
