Conversion of Propanone to Propene:-
Step 1: Formation of Propan-2-ol
Propanone is treated with Lithium Aluminium hydride ${LiAlH}_{4}$ which acts as a reducing agent and reduces the ketone group $C = O$ to a $2 °$ alcohol.
The product formed is Propan-2-ol.
Step 2: Formation of Propene
The Propan-2-ol so formed now is treated with concentrated Sulphuric acid at $443 K$ .
This results in the dehydration of the Propan-2-ol to form Propene:
