1. A zygote is the first cell formed on the fusion of the male and female gamete.
2. When this fusion occurs inside the female body, it is said to be internal fertilisation.

Process of internal zygote formation:

1. The sperm are released by the penis into the vagina during ejaculation.
2. The sperm moves upwards through the fallopian tube.
3. It fuses (fertilization) with the female gamete causing the formation of a zygote.
