How does uterus work?

Open in App
Solution

Uterus:

  1. The female reproductive system's uterus is an inverted muscular organ that feeds and fertilises the egg until the baby is ready to be delivered.
  2. The uterus' major components are:
    1. The fundus is the upper broad curving portion where the fallopian tube joins to the uterus.
    2. The uterus's body, or major section, begins immediately below the fallopian tube and continues downward to the uterine.
    3. The isthmus is the lower section of the cavity that begins to narrow.
  3. The uterine wall is made up of three layers of muscles that include connective tissues, blood vessels, elastic fibers, and collagen fibers. This allows the uterine wall to expand and thin as the baby grows inside the uterus.
  4. Function of uterus:
    1. The fertilised ovum that develops into the foetus is nurtured and held in the uterus until the infant is mature enough to be born.
    2. The bladder, colon, pelvic bones, and organs all rely on the uterus for structural support.
    3. The bladder and bowels are separated by uterus.
