Open in App
Solution

Determine the length of the cloth in cm:

Given, the length of the cloth =40m

=40×100cm [1m=100cm]

=4000cm

Cloth required for stitching a shirt =2m15cm

=(2×100)+15cm [1m=100cm]

=215cm

So, in cloth of 40m length, the number of shirts that can be stitched =4000215 shirts.

4000 divided by 215 will give 130 as a remainder and 18 is the quotient.

The number of shirts that can be stitched =18

And, the length of cloth left =130cm

=1m30cm

Hence, 18 shirts can be stitched from a cloth of length 40m and 1m30cm of cloth will remain.
