  1. The number of zygotic combinations in any cross can be known by the number of heterozygous alleles in the genotype.
  2. So, the number of gametes that can be produced = 2n
  3. Here 'n' is the number of the heterozygous allele in the parental genotype.
  4. Applying the above formulae:
  1. The number of gametes that can be produced by the parent with genotype Aabbccdd = (2)1 = 2
  2. The number of gametes that can be produced by the parent with genotype aabbccdd = (2)0 = 1
  3. The number of zygotic combinations that are possible after cross

= gametes of parent 1 × gametes of parent 2

= 2 × 1 = 2

So, the number of possible zygotic combinations in the above cross is 2.
