There are four levels of biological organization:

  1. Organisms - Organisms are living things that exist on their own.
  2. Populations - The total number of particular species in a country or region.
  3. Communities - A group of species that are really or potentially interacting and live in the same area.
  4. Biomes - Natural communities of plants and animals that occur in a specific area and frequently share common characteristics.
