Solution

Eutrophication:

  1. Process in which a water body becomes enriched with nutrients and minerals.
  2. Gradual increase in the concentration of phosphorus, nitrogen, and other nutrients.
  3. Results of eutrophication-Harmful algal blooms and fish kills.

When the waste of a factory in the village is flowing into the pond, it probably caused the fish to die because:

(a.) Factory waste may contain a high concentration of basic or acidic chemicals. These chemicals make aquatic life difficult.

For neutralizing the acidic nature of factory waste:

(b.) By adding the base (limestone) into the water we can neutralize the factory waste.
