Solution

Rajasthan:

  1. A large area of desert is covered by rocks and sand.
  2. Deserts are filled with stretches of sand.
  3. When rainwater falls on the land, it percolates immediately downwards in the gaps between sand particles.
  4. So, during the rainy season streams of water in the desert region are not clear.
  5. Hence, water streams are not found in deserts.
  6. Most deserts get less than 10 inches of rainfall each year.
  7. The evaporation rate is higher than the rainfall.
  8. In the desert, there is little water available for plants (cactus-like) and other organisms.
