Solution

Let the present age of Ashima be x years.

The present age of Sunita is 2x years

Ashima’s new age =(x6) years

Sunita’s new age =(2x+4) years

As per the question, we get

(2x+4)=4(x6)

2x+4=4x24

4x2x=24+4

2x=28

x=282=14

∴ Age of Ashima =14years

Age of Sunita=2×14=28years

Hence, Two years ago, the age of Ashima was =14-2=12years, and the age of Sunita was=282=26years
