The reason is pollutant gases comprising of sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, and nitrogen oxides are released from Mathura Oil refinery. Due to this Taj Mahal’s marbles will get corroded because of the presence of calcium sulphate (CaSO4) and calcium nitrate (Ca(NO3)2), in the atmosphere, causing acid rain.
