International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) nomenclature :
The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) nomenclature of organic chemistry is a system for naming organic chemical compounds in chemical nomenclature.
It is compiled in the Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry.
Naming of :
Since there are 4 carbons in the carbon chain so the compound will have the root word “but”.
since there is one bromine atom attached to the first carbon atom, so prefix Bromo will be used
Since there are two methyl groups present on the third carbon of the carbon chain, so prefix dimethyl will be used.
Since the phenyl group is attached to the first carbon atom phenyl prefix is used.
Now, we will arrange these all subgroups according to their alphabetic order
So the IUPAC name of is 1-Bromo-3,3-dimethyl-1-phenylbutane.
