Given:

The odometer of a car reads 2000 km. Let it be the initial distance 

The odometer of a car reads 2400 km. Let it be the final distance. 

Total distance covered = Final distance – Initial distance 

= 2400 – 2000

= 400 km

As given in the question, the time taken = 8hours

The avergae speed =\( \frac{Total distance}{Total time taken}\) \( \Rightarrow \frac{400}{8}\) \( \Rightarrow 50 km/h\)

The average speed of the car in \( ms^{-1} \)is

\( 1 km = 1000m

\( 1 hour = 60 min = 3600 seconds

\( 1 km/h = 5/18 m/s\)

Speed = 50 * \( \frac{5}{18}m/s\) \( \Rightarrow \frac{250}{18}m/s\) \( \Rightarrow 13.88m/s\)

Therefore, 

The average speed of the car in \( Km h^{-1} 50 km/h\)

The average speed of the car in \( ms^{-1} is 13.88m/s\)
