Solution

Step 1: Given information.

Periodic time, T=4sec

Step 2: To find, After how many intervals from the time t=0 its displacement will be half of its amplitude.

Step 3: Calculation.

The displacement equation in simple harmonic motion is given by,

y=asinωt…(equation 1)

If y=a2

By putting the value of y in the equation 1, we get

a2=asinωtsinωt=0.5ωt=sin-1(0.5)=π62πTt=π6t=T12=412=13sec

Therefore, the time interval is 13sec.
