The salty taste of blood:

  1. The presence of sodium makes blood salty, about 85% of sodium is present in blood and lymphatic tissues.
  2. Sodium in our body acts as an electrolyte that helps in the conduction of nerve and muscle contraction.
  3. Blood electrolytes such as sodium, chloride, calcium, and bicarbonate maintain the osmotic pressure in the blood.
