Solution

The correct option is A

ρ1=6;ρ2=2

Relative density

The ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a standard is called relative density.

Step 1: Calculation of the relative density of the mixture when mixed in equal volume

ρ1+ρ22=4ρ1+ρ2=8......(1)

Where, ρ1 is the density of the first substance and ρ2 is the density of the second substance.

Step 2: Calculation of the relative density of the mixture when mixed in equal mass

2ρ1ρ2ρ1+ρ2=32ρ1ρ28=3ρ1ρ2=12ρ1=12ρ2

Step 3: Calculation of densities for both substance

12ρ2+ρ2=812+ρ22ρ2=8ρ22-8ρ2+12=0ρ2=2Fromequation(1),ρ1=8-2=6

Hence, the densities of the substances are ρ1=6;ρ2=2.

Therefore, option (A) is correct.
