The term Veda derived from the root vid meaning spiritual knowledge or subject of the universe or means of knowledge acquisition. There are four Vedas

• Rig Veda
• Yajur Veda
• Sama Veda
• Atharva Veda

Rig Veda was composed during the Early Vedic Age. The other three were written in the Later Vedic Age.

Rig Veda is the world’s oldest religious text and It has 1028 hymns and is divided into 10 mandalas.
