Red blood cells:

3. These cells carry a red-colored, iron-containing complex protein called hemoglobin, which gives them their color and name.

White blood cells:

1. Because of their lack of hemoglobin, they are known as white blood cells (WBC).
2. Granulocytes and agranulocytes are the two main types of WBCs.
3. Granulocytes include neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils, while lymphocytes and monocytes are agranulocytes.

Platelets:
