What are the isomers of C3H6O?

Open in App
Solution

Isomers:

  • “Isomers are two or more compounds that have the same chemical formula but a different arrangement of atoms.”
  • As the structures of isomers differ, thus the physical/chemical properties also differ.

Double bond equivalent:

  • It is the number of double bonds/triple bonds present in organic molecules.

Step 1: Formula used for the calculation of DBE:

  • DBE=C+1-H2-X2-N2
  • Where C represents the Carbon atom, H represents Hydrogen atom, X represents Halogen and N is the Nitrogen atom.

Step 2: Calculation of DBE for C3H6O:

  • DBE=3+1-62-02-02DBE=4-3=1

This double bond can be C=C, C=O or a ring.
