Weeds are the unwanted wild plants growing in fields. They compete with crops for sources such as space, light and nutrients thereby causing crop plants to get less of all these sources which may hinder their growth. Weeds reduce farm and forest productivity, they invade crops, smother pastures and in some cases can harm livestock.
However, growth of weeds can be regulated with the use of weedicides which is a chemical used to spray in fields to destroy weeds if any. Their presence does not cause any harm to the crops. Weeds can be removed through tilling else can be manually eliminated with the help of a khurpi.
