Convection

  • It is the process by which thermal energy in one body is conveyed to another body with which it comes into contact.
  • Heat is always transferred from a body with more potential and kinetic energy to a body with less potential and kinetic energy, or from a high to a low temperature.
  • Convection does not take place in solids, because no movement of its constituent particles occurs.

How convections occurs

  • When highly heated particles in a liquid or gas move and replace less heated particles, convection takes place.
  • Convection is the process through which heat energy is moved from heated areas to colder ones.

Example of convection

  • The heat from the burner passes into the pot of boiling water, heating the bath's bottom.
  • The hot water then rises and descends in a circular manner to cover it.
  • Warm air should be put up in the radiator, and cooler air should be drawn in.
