Myopia:

  1. A condition of the eye that causes difficulty in focusing the objects located at a far distance.
  2. When the light rays bend in an abnormal fashion, this condition occurs.
  3. In most of the time, the eyeball is elongated.
  4. Hence, the image formed is in front of the retina than on the retina.
  5. Therefore, it is also called nearsightedness.

Causes of myopia:

  1. Hereditary: If one or both parents have the condition, their offspring might also get affected.
  2. Environmental conditions: The elongation of the eyeball due to some conditions.
  3. Correction of myopia: A concave lens is used to correct myopia.
