Lactobacillus is a microaerophilic bacteria and they constitute a significant component that presents in the human and animal digestive systems.

Procedure to follow to observe Lactobacillus bacteria in the lab:

  1. Take a small amount of curd (as a starter) and mix it with the fresh milk and then kept the milk in a warm place to settle.
  2. When the curd is formed, a little amount of curd is diluted with water.
  3. Take a few drops of prepared solution on a slide.
  4. Allow drying of the solution on the slide and stained with methylene blue or safranin.
  5. Observe the bacteria under the microscope.
