What happens when water levels are too low in the body?

Open in App
Solution

Water in the body:

  1. The human body contains about 60% water.
  2. Water is essential for humans as it forms the basic thing for urine, digestion, etc.
  3. When the water level is too low in the body, osmoreceptors get activated and they stimulate the hypothalamus to release vasopressin or ADH from the neurohypophysis.
  4. ADH promotes water reabsorption from the distal tubules of the kidneys and prevents dehydration or diuresis.
