The correct option is A 8 m/s

Let us take the x axis to point east. A sketch of the path is shown in the figure. To find the required quantities, we need the total time interval.
The first part of the journey took
Δt1=100 m10 m/s=10 s
and given, Δt2=15 s
Displacement in west direction =15×20=300 m
Net displacement =Δx=200 m (where negative sign indicates the west direction)
Hence the total time interval is
Δt=Δt1+Δt2=25 s
vavrg=ΔxΔt
vavrg=20025=8 m/s
The negative sign means that vavrg is directed toward the west.
