A body moves with a velocity of 10 m/s for 10 s and then with a velocity of 20 m/s in the same direction for 40 s. Find its average velocity.

Open in App
Solution

Average velocity =

Total distance travelled/total time taken

Distance = velocity×time

Total distance =
10×10+40×20
= 100+ 800 = 900 m

total time = 40+10 = 50 s

average velocity =

= 900/50

= 90/5 = 18 m/s
