Question

A bus starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of 0.1m/s2 for 2 min. Find the distance traveled.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

The acceleration of the bus, a=0.1m/s2.

The time traveled by bus is t = 2min = 120 seconds.

Initial speed, u = 0.

Step 2: Finding the distance

From newton's second equation of motion;

s=ut+12at2

Where "s" is the distance traveled by bus.

u = initial speed, a = acceleration, "t" is the time.

s=0×2+12(0.1)×(120)2=(0.5)×(0.1)×(14400).

s=720m.

Therefore, the distance traveled by bus is 720m.
