Question

A bus starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of 0.1 ms-2 for 2 minutes. Find the speed acquired.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

  1. The initial velocity(u) of the bus is zero as it starts from rest.
  2. The uniform acceleration of the bus is 0.1 m/s.
  3. Time taken by the bus is 2minutes=2×60=120seconds.

Step 2: Finding the final velocity

Now, using the 1st equation of motion,

v=u+at

Where,

u and v are the initial and final velocities, a is acceleration, and t is time.

v=0+0.1×120v=12m/s

Hence, the final velocity at the end of 2 minutes is 12 m/s.
