Solution

The correct option is B 8 days
A completes the work in 36 days.

B completes 16.66%, i.e., 1/6th of the work in 3 days.

So, B completes the work in = 1/6 × 3 = 18 days

Total work = L.C.M of 18 and 36 = 36

A’s 1-day work = 36/36 = 1 unit

B’s 1-day work = 36/18 = 2 units

(A + B)’s 1-day work = 36/3 = 12 units

66.66%, i.e., 2/3rd of the work = 36 × 2/3 = 24 units

Required time = 24/3 = 8 days
