Solution

The correct option is A 280 km
Given,
  • Car moves with a speed of 50 km/h for first 2 hours
  • Car moves with a speed of 60 km/h for last 3 hours

We know,

Speed =DistanceTimeDistance = Speed × Time

As the speed is different in both the time intervals, we have to calculate the distance covered by the car in each interval and then sum it up to calculate the total distance covered by the car in 5 hours.

As the distance unit is given in km and time unit is given in h, there is no need for unit conversions.

Therefore, total distance covered by the car = distance covered by the car in first 2 hours with a speed of 50 km/h + distance covered by the car in last 3 hours with a speed of 60 km/h.

=(50 × 2) + (60 × 3) =100 + 180 = 280

Hence, the total distance covered by the car is 280 km.
